The objects included are a spice box full of myrrh, a pitcher, and
pearls.
On one side of the frame are prayers to the Magdalene,
and on the other side is
an
excerpt from the Gnostic poem The
Thunder, Perfect Mind translated into
English
from the Coptic
by George W. MacRae. In 1945, the poem was found with other
manuscripts at
Nag Hammadi, located in upper Egypt. It is the
revelation discourse of a female
divinity whose sphinx-like riddle
form makes for an appealing mystery.
